All members of IAEM in good standing (all dues paid) are invited to use the IAEM Belgium webspace for the announcement of NON-commercial initiatives, like seminars, research projects or exerises.

All proposals will be screened and can be rejected if they do not comply with our Administrative Guidelines or Code of Ethics.

The membership fee for 2012 is € 60,00

New President for IAEM Europa

It is with great pleasure and honour that we can announce that Belgian Luc ROMBOUT has been elected new President of IAEM Europa.
He will lead as of October 2011 for a period of two years the 64 member countries in the IAEM Europa Council.
Congratulations!

Luc Rombout will take over from current President British Arthur RABJOHN during the EMEC Conference in Münich.

10-14 October 2011:
Emergency Management Expo & Conference, in Münich, Germany.

This is the IAEM Europa annual conference, this year jointly with the International Airport expo.

The agenda in very diverse and covers some very ‘hot’ topics, like
the use of Social Media in disaster management,
Civil-Military co-operation – also in Japan following the Fukushima incident, and
a new doctrine on Medical disaster management.

In addition participants will learn more about the CEM programme and about new strategic initiatives of IAEM Europe in 2012.

EU Project Call

A new milestone was reached as IAEM-Europa entered its first project proposal for a Preparatory Action on an EU Rapid Response Capability, issued by DG ECHO .03, Disaster Response Unit.
Even if IAEM-Europa does not succeed in being granted the project, the preparations themselves have been a worthwhile effort to put the organisation on the map and to explore first time alliances with research centres in various EU countries.

Lid worden van IAEM impliceert dat u natuurlijk iets ‘in de plaats’ krijgt:

U maakt deel uit van een netwerk, met wereldwijd bijna 7.000 experts, die samen een uniek virtueel kenniscentrum vormen. Als lid heeft u toegang tot de ledendatabase, waardoor u rechtstreeks met andere leden in contact kan komen;
U kan ook een heleboel leden tegelijk aanspreken of een vraag voorleggen, via een aantal heel dynamische fora;
U ontvangt maandelijk het digitaal Bulletin, de nieuwsbrief van IAEM;
U krijgt geregeld inzage in ontwerpteksten van nieuwe normen en regelgeving en dit omdat IAEM als stakeholder gevraagd wordt een adviserende rol te spelen
Via deze representatie en ook door de rechtstreekse contacten met nationale of supra-nationale overheden en organisaties zorgt IAEM enerzijds voor de verdere professionalisering van het beroep en anderzijds voor de belangenverdediging van de sector;
Via de website IAEM.com heeft u toegang tot een uitgebreide bibliotheek van artikels, cursusmaterialen en dergelijke meer;
Wie als lid een individuele beroepserkenning wenst, kan de procedure voor accreditatie als Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) doormaken; en
als voorbereiding hierop kan u als lid ook – na aanvraag van een studentenstatuut – de online cursussen ISP, aangeboden door FEMA, volgen en hiervan zelfs examen afleggen.
Verder kan u nog deelnemen aan allerhande initiatieven die door Global – het jaarlijks congres -, de Councils – congressen, seminaries, examensessies, … – of de Regions of individuele groepen worden georganiseerd.
… en er is nog wel wat … er komt gewoon steeds meer bij …

Wat is IAEM ?

De ‘International Association of Emergency Managers’, afgekort tot IAEM, is een mondiale beroepsvereniging.

IAEM is:

Mondiaal, omdat dat er wereldwijd leden en activiteiten zijn. In meer dan 60 landen zijn er leden. In vele daarvan is er ook een ‘country representative‘ en IAEM organiseert of neemt deel aan activiteiten in alle continenten.
Beroepsvereniging, omdat de leden personen zijn die beroepsmatig (of via hun studie) actief zijn in het vakgebied ‘Emergency Management‘.

Huidige structuur

IAEM is opgebouwd uit een overkoepelende organisatie (‘Global’) en een aantal regionale entiteiten, Council genaamd. Zo zijn er bijvoorbeeld IAEM-Asia, IAEM-Canada en IAEM-Europa.

Medio 2009 werd IAEM-Europa opgericht als een in België gevestigde Vereniging zonder Winstoogmerk (vzw).

De groei binnen een aantal van de Councils is dermate groot dat reeds gestart werd met Regions, wat geografische entiteiten – veelal landen – zijn die minstens 75 leden tellen.
