Citizens involvement in disaster relief

Parts of central Western Europe were hit by severe floods mid July 2021.
The dimension and force of the fluvial floods caused significant loss of life and the destruction at large scale of population centres, transport infrastructure and economic assets.

In Belgium, the consequences overwhelmed the civilian emergency response services, yet also mobilised at an unseen scale, the general population, providing disaster relief to the stricken population.
